Overview and Definition of Chiropractic Care

Chiropractic is a natural, non-invasive approach to regaining health and relieving pain without drugs or surgery. Chiropractors achieve their results by finding and removing a “vertebral subluxation” that occurs within the spine. A “subluxation” is a misalignment of the vertebrae which causes blockage or interference with the proper transmission of nerve signals to the body. Like a decrease in food, water or oxygen, a decrease in nerve energy, which is also essential to your health, results in decreased health potential, because the nervous system controls every function of the human body. Where nerve signals are distorted by a subluxation, a “dis-ease” in normal tissue may result. Therefore, maintaining a subluxation-free spine is essential to your health.

The primary focus of chiropractic is simply to “adjust” the spine and remove those subluxations which interfere with the body’s natural ability to heal itself. A Chiropractor is the only health care provider trained to keep clear and proper nerve signals flowing throughout the body.

What Makes Dr. Corsello's Technique Advanced?

Typical chiropractors remove these subluxations by manually “adjusting” them back into place using only their hands. Still, many people are leery of these methods as a twisting and cracking of the neck and back. Fortunately, there is now an alternative to these traditional chiropractic methods that is highly specific and does not involve cracking, twisting or popping of the neck. The procedure is called ATLAS ORTHOGONAL CHIROPRACTIC.

Atlas Orthogonal is a gentle, effective technique that works on the premise that if a person’s skull is sitting off the center of the body, its center of gravity will be altered. This will cause the entire spine underneath to shift in compensation. A physical trauma, such as that that would cause a disc herniation, can cause the spine to misalign. By getting the head to sit properly on the first cervical vertebrae (named the “Atlas”), the spine will regain its vertical position. The Atlas will then be Orthogonal (or 90 degrees) to the spine.

The Atlas Orthogonist will reposition the skull onto the neck by adjusting the Atlas with a highly scientific percussion instrument that will globally realign the entire spine. The doctor will do this using a specific line of drive for each individual’s needs that is calculated by carefully analyzing x-ray films of the patient’s neck that may show altered alignment and abnormal biomechanics of the cervical spine. The procedure is completely painless and takes only seconds. There is no cracking or twisting of the neck. Pressure will be taken off the nervous system. The body will then be more able to heal itself and become symptom-free. Call Dr. Corsello’s office now to see if your head is on straight.
